Huawei has launched its premium flagship Mate 20 Pro in India today at Rs 69,990. The Chinese company is aiming for premium high-end segment in the country with this flagship smartphone, and believes consumers will understand Huawei’s innovation and value of their products in future.
Not just smartphones, the company plans to launch its whole Huawei ecosystem in India “one by one.” In 2019, Huawei’s portfolio for India will also include wearables, laptops and IoT devices.
In an interview with BGR India on Monday, Huawei’s Senior Marketing Manager, Wally Yang said, “For sure, next year after the Mate 20 Pro launch, more and more mid or high-end products we will launch in India. It will not only be smartphones, our portfolio will also include wearables and laptops.”
Along with the Mate 20 Pro teasers, Huawei was also teasing the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 20 Pro RS for India, but that didn’t happen. The company is expected to launch the Pro RS next followed by its latest smartwatch Huawei Watch GT and more products like MateBook X Pro and AI Cube speakers ‘very soon’.
While there is no fixed timeline for these products, Yang told BGR India, that “MateBook X Pro and AI Cube speakers may come to India very soon.” The same was reiterated by Yang on stage during the Huawei Mate 20 Pro launch in New Delhi on Friday as well.
Huawei will be focusing more on sales, retail channel and marketing before it plans to get these devices in India next year. At present, Hauwei’s focus is the latest Mate 20 Pro flagship and the company is not planning to launch Mate 20 or Mate 20 X ‘anytime soon.’

“Right now we are focusing on Mate 20 Pro, the reason is, first we would like people to experience the best product first,” added Yang. “For more SKUs (Mate 20 or Mate 20 X), your sales, retail, channel and marketing also need to be ready, so we want to focus on that first.”
