Netflix cancels Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ after just three seasons but it may come back

Video streaming platform Netflix has just announced that it is canceling Marvel’s Daredevil about a month after releasing the third season of the show. This is the third Marvel show that Netflix has canceled after Iron Fist and Luke Cage. This leaves the streaming platform with just two remaining Marvel shows that include Jessica Jones and The Punisher. According to the cancellation, Netflix issued a statement stating, “Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix.” The platform went on to thank the fans, partners at Marvel, showrunner Erik Oleson, writers. the crew and the cast of the show for its success.

The streaming company initially launched the first season of Daredevil back in 2015 and later launched the second and third season in 2016 and 2018 respectively. Daredevil was the first Marvel show on Netflix that later resulted in the launch of other Marvel TV shows including Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, The Punisher and Defenders. English actor Charlie Cox was the lead of the show playing as Matt Murdock and its alter-ego Daredevil while Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll played the characters of Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, and Karen Page respectively.

Watch: Mars Season 2

The TV universe of Marvel shows tries to be the dark, gritty and more real side of Marvel that plugs the gap in the stories around the Marvel movies. These TV shows showcase, what appears to be the day-to-day lives in the world where the Avengers exist. The cancellation was initially reported by Deadline along with official confirmation from Netflix. Talking more about Daredevil’s cancellation, it is quite possible that Daredevil may make a comeback to the nearest screen where you usually video stream your content as it is possible for Disney to pick up the show.

The reason we are saying this is because it is likely that Disney, the owner of Marvel may pick up the show for its upcoming streaming service ‘Disney+’. According to the report, Netflix also added, “While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel”. This means any possible appearance of the Daredevil in Jessica Jones or The Punisher.

However, with the demise of Marvel TV universe on Netflix, Disney has been working on creating its own Marvel TV universe with the help of new TV shows including Loki, and Scarlett Witch.
