The world of console gaming has seen some exciting new games this year, which have potentially become the top contenders for the Game of the Year award. But what is surprising is that the consoles that have been running these games, namely the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 are essentially five-year-old devices. But that didn’t stop them from perfectly executing games that can take top award spots.
And an even more surprising fact is that both the consoles are still selling units, despite the age and potential new versions looming close. NPD analyst Mat Piscatella had a comment on the sales of the two devices, and said that the sales are expected to drop next year. He added that it is expected that both the companies will launch their next generation gaming consoles next year, which are supposed to be called Xbox Scarlet and PS5. These are just expected names, and there is no information confirming these.
With the two consoles announced next year, the consoles can be expected to launch the following year which is 2020. This is in line with the previous predictions as well, which claim that next year is when we will probably see the new consoles from the companies.

Although there are no other details about the upcoming gaming console, but if the current version is anything to go by, then gamers might be up for a more-powerful processor, faster GPU, and a bump in storage and memory. The PS4 is powered by a custom AMD-built x86 multi-core processor and AMD GPU. This configuration brings it at par with the Microsoft Xbox One.
