Last week, Apple rolled out watchOS 5.1 for the Watch. However, the company quickly pulled the update after several users complained that attempting to install the update left them with bricked watches. According to The Verge, the issue could only be resolved by taking the bricked smartwatch to Apple support and was seemingly limited to only the newly-launched Apple Watch Series 4.
The Cupertino-based technology major has now started seeding a new incremental update – watchOS 5.1.1 – which patches the watch-bricking bug introduced by its predecessor. The newest watchOS version also includes 70 new emojis (originally released as part of iOS 12.1), new full-screen watch faces, as well as support for group FaceTime audio for up to 32 participants.
About 132MB in size, watchOS 5.1.1 also includes some other features and enhancements. It makes Apple Watch Series 4’s ‘Fall Detection’ feature better by having the wearable also play a message informing the responder that the Watch has detected a fall, sharing location coordinates when possible.
Furthermore, the new watchOS update fixes and issue causing incomplete installation of the Walkie-Talkie app, as well as a bug that causes some users to not receive/send invitations on the app. An issue causing previously earned Activity awards to not show up has been patched with the update as well.
