WhatsApp seems to be working on two new features according to a recent report on the internet. According to the report, WhatsApp is planning to include “add contact” to quickly add contacts in your contact list without leaving the app and a QR code to easily and quickly share your contact with others. Both these new features are currently not available both on iOS as well as Android. According to the details about these features, the company has been working on both these features “since a few weeks”. Developers are working to improve the features for the prime time with each new update.
It will be weeks if not months before the company rolls out the features to the public because WhatsApp wants to ensure that they are working properly. Talking about the “Add contacts” feature, it is not like it was not available on the app, but according to an in-depth report by WABetaInfo, the company wanted to redesign the functionality on Android and iOS to make it easier to use. The report stated that once the redesigned “Add contacts” feature is ready then it will replace the current feature in the app.

The leaked screenshots of the feature indicate that users will need to select the country of the new contact and then add the phone number.
The redesigned feature will also indicate if the contact number that you are adding to your list is on WhatsApp or not. Moving to WhatsApp QR code, the second new feature, this feature will allow you to quickly share your own contact details with other WhatsApp users.
It is likely that this feature will work in a similar manner to how Instagram username QR code and Facebook Messenger QR code functions. According to screenshots, the app will also include a scanning functionality that will allow other users to quickly scan your WhatsApp QR code directly from the app.
The report added that once a WhatsApp QR code is detected, the app will automatically fill all the contact fields with the data that is present in the QR code and add the contact to the address book. WhatsApp will also give the option to revoke the QR code in case the user changes her or his mind about sharing their details. Both these new features come days after the company rolled out its latest WhatsApp stickers feature to the public.
