Xiaomi Mi A2: An early version of its Android 9 Pie beta leaks out on the internet

An early version of Android 9 Pie beta for the Xiaomi Mi A2 has leaked out on the internet. According to the reports on the internet, the test version of the official Pie ROM for Mi A2 comes “complete with” key features including Adaptive Battery, and navigation gestures. For the people who may be unaware, Mi A2 is the second Android One-branded device that Chinese smartphone maker and electronics giant Xiaomi launched in the market. The company launched the device at a launch event in Spain back in August along with the slightly lower-end Mi A2 Lite.

Days after the global launch of the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite, Xiaomi launched the more premiere of the two, the Mi A2 in the Indian market. The highlight of the device is the stock Android software instead of Xiaomi’s in-house Android-based skin, MIUI. Another thing about the Android One program is that the device makers work closely with Google to ensure that Android updates are quickly rolled out to Android One-branded devices. This means considerably faster monthly Android security patches and OS upgrades.

The leaked Android Pie beta version for the Mi A2 was initially reported by XDA developers after XDA member “Whyle” posted it on the Mi A2 sub-forums in the XDA forums. According to the report, the beta ROM is similar to any other stock Android 9 Pie ROM that one may have used in the past.

Though, considering that the ROM is in Beta state, it is likely that some things are not final and the ROM may be crawling with some bugs. Interested Mi A2 users can head to XDA forums to download the ROM and try it on their devices. But before installing the ROM, make sure that you know what you are doing and can easily roll back to the stock version.

Ensure that you have taken a full backup of all the important data on the device and the device that you are installing the beta ROM on, is not your main device. Given that the early beta version of the Pie-based ROM has leaked, it is likely that Xiaomi is planning to launch the final version of the operating system in the coming weeks.
