Apple iPad mini 5 may look similar to mini 4, likely to be affordable: Report

Apple seems to be working on a new refreshed version of its iPad mini with plans to launch it in coming months. The company has not revealed any information about the upcoming version of iPad mini however the device may be known as iPad mini 5. New information about the device claims that the company is not planning to change the design of the device. This means that it will look similar to what we have seen in the iPad mini 4. The information also added that Apple is likely to aim the price conscious market with the upcoming model by marketing the device as a “lower cost product”.

This information was initially revealed by Japanese website Macotakara and later reported by 9to5Mac. According to the report, older design means that the company will continue with the lightning connector, 3.5-mm audio socket, and Touch ID for authentication. More importantly, iPad mini 5 will continue to have the bezels around the display instead of the modern near-bezel-less design that we saw in the iPad Pro 2018. Only changes that may come with the device include the new position of the microphone at the back of the device where Apple will move it to the center.

We have already seen this position of the microphone on the back of the iPad in the 6th generation of the regular 9.7-inch iPad. The report further goes on to state that the company is likely to upgrade the internals of the tablet to an A10 chip instead of the A8 that comes in iPad mini 4. Though it is unclear if the company is going to add the A10 or the A10X variant of the chip in the device.

We are not sure about the pricing or the launch details of the device through this report suggests that the new mini 5 will be cheaper than what mini 4 launched with, in the market. Previous reports indicate that the company is planning to launch the device in the coming months.
