Airtel takes on Reliance Jio; introduces new prepaid plan with 1.4GB daily data, 75 days validity

Bharti Airtel is expanding its tariff portfolio by introducing new plans that offer daily data, unlimited calling and more. The telco already has Rs 399 and Rs 448 plans that ship with 1.4GB daily 3G / 4G data. Now, Airtel has introduced a new Rs 419 plan that sits between these two and offers similar benefits. It is an open market plan that can be availed by any prepaid user.

Talking about the plan’s benefits, the Rs 419 prepaid plan from Airtel offers unlimited local and national outgoing calls without any FUP, free national roaming and 100 daily SMS. As mentioned above, the plan ships with high-speed 1.4GB daily data at 3G / 4G speeds. The plan comes with a validity of 75 days.

The other two prepaid plans from Airtel. priced at Rs 399 and Rs 448, also offer unlimited voice calling without any FUP and also include 100 free SMS daily. Users also get 1.4GB daily high-speed data at 4G / 3G speeds. The open market Rs 399 prepaid plan offers a validity of 70 days. However, some users get a validity of 84 days with the same plan, mainly because it is a segmented offer. The Rs 448 prepaid plan, on the other hand, offers a validity of 82 days.

The new plan from Airtel directly takes on Reliance Jio prepaid plans priced at Rs 399 and Rs 398. Both plans offer unlimited local and national calling without any FUP. They also offer unlimited SMS (daily cap of 100), and complimentary access to Reliance Jio suite of apps.

The Rs 398 plan comes with 70 days validity and offers 2GB daily data, meaning users can download up to 140GB total data through the validity period. The Rs 399 plan, on the other hand, comes with 84 days validity and offers 1.5GB daily 4G data. Once the limit is hit, users can continue to download unlimited data at 64Kbps speed.
