Amazon has released its digital voice assistant Alexa for Windows 10 PCs. The Amazon Alexa app can now be downloaded through the official Microsoft Store starting today. It can be installed on any Windows 10 PC, but only compatible devices will support hands-free Alexa wake word functionality, notes The Verge.
Users with Windows 10 PC running version 17134.0 or higher or on Xbox One models can directly download the Amazon Alexa app. As of now, only users in US, UK, and Germany have the access to it. If your PC doesn’t support Alexa wake word functionality, then you need to manually wake the assistant or you could assign a keyboard shortcut for it.
It is reported that Amazon Alexa app on Windows 10 includes access control music, smart home devices and more for now, but not for video, calls, Spotify, and Pandora.
To note, Amazon partnered with Acer, HP, Asus, and Lenovo for Windows 10 PCs back in January this year. The new generation laptop devices have been designed with digital array microphones to allow for hands-free Alexa wake word functionality. Amazon has also mentioned that Alexa and Cortana will have integrated features later.

During the preview announcement, it was said that Cortana users will be able to access Alexa, and vice versa. Microsoft’s partnership with Amazon also had Alexa support Xbox One, and the Amazon Alexa app for Windows 10 has kicked off with the Xbox One support.
