Asus ROG Phone India launch: How to watch live stream, expected price, specifications, features

Asus will be launching the ROG Phone in India at an event today. The high-end smartphone from the company will be positioned as a flagship device, with a focus on smartphone gaming and performance. The Asus ROG Phone builds on the Taiwanese manufacturer’s Republic of Gamers brand, which is popular in its range of gaming laptops and accessories.

The Asus ROG Phone will go on sale in India exclusively through Flipkart, and pricing is expected to be competitive and in line with the company’s renewed strategy and focus on the Indian market. The gaming-focused device features top-end hardware and special features built in to enhance the gaming experience, including air triggers for console-like control, multi-layer cooling and two Type-C ports that allow fast charging.

Asus ROG Phone specifications, features

The Asus ROG Phone comes with a 6-inch full HD+ AMOLED display (18:9 aspect ratio), with somewhat thick bezels on the top and bottom. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core SoC paired with up to 8GB of RAM, and 512GB onboard storage.

Asus has also bundled a massive 4,000mAh battery with Asus HyperCharge technology that can charge from empty to 60 percent in 33 minutes. With a full charge, the smartphone can deliver battery life of up to seven hours with Wi-Fi gaming. The ROG Phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with Asus’ Zen UI on top. It will be interesting to see when it will be updated to Android Pie.

In the photography department, you get a 12-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual-camera setup with LED flash at the back, and an 8-megapixel sensor on the front. The smartphone supports face unlock and fingerprint scanner at the back too. Connectivity wise, you get two USB Type-C ports – one at the bottom, and one on the side to connect accessories or keep charging while you play games.

There are also a bunch of accessories, such as a gaming controller, a Mobile Desktop Dock to transform your phone into a PC, a TwinView Dock with second screen to play games, and more. There is no word on the pricing for now, but this will be revealed at the event today.
