BSNL is now offering data carry forward option on its postpaid plan

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, the state-owned telecom operator is following on the footsteps of private telecom players to implement data carry forward option. The fourth largest telecom player in the country with a subscriber base of over 110 million users is now allowing its postpaid subscribers to carry forward unused data to next billing cycle.

BSNL has been lagging behind other private telecom players in number of ways and the lack of 4G support has jeopardized its ability to compete with the likes of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea Ltd and Reliance Jio. While it is expected to begin 4G roll out sometime next year, the company is delivering on one of the most requested feature from its subscribers.

The telecom player has announced that it has now implemented ‘Data Carry Forward option’ for its postpaid users but there is a catch. The company has revised the Rs 525 postpaid plan in Kolkata telecom circle, where it is offering 80GB data along with ability to carry forward data up to 200GB to the next billing cycle. The catch here is that this carry forward option is limited to Rs 525 plan in the Kolkata circle only.
