Google is now showing direct answers to some questions without any search results

Google seems to be rolling out a tweaked user interface for its Search results. According to the changes spotted by some users, Google is directly giving answers to some queries that it is certain about. While providing answers to queries is not new, the change here is the lack of any other search entry apart from the result. This means that the search engine seems to be directly serving answers to queries that seem to be constant. This new search experience is appearing for users on iOS, Android, and the mobile version of the website.

This change is shift may be to increase the speed of the search experience. This news was initially spotted by Sergey Alakov and later confirmed by Google. The company confirmed the change while talking to Search Engine Land stating that queries that involve basic and certain calculations including the unit converter, clock or calculator don’t really need a second opinion as the answers are likely to be constant. Google clarified that this change only appears for results that it has “extremely high confidence”. The interesting thing to note here is that this is not a new development as the company started testing with this interface back in February.

The interface also shows a “Show all results” button at the bottom of the answer for the users who want to see all other web links associated to the query in case they want to check something else.

Another thing to note here is that the company did not serve any advertisements on these single answer pages to make the experience as simple as possible. According to a report by 9to5Google, the company confirmed that it is rolling out this change to a wider set of users.
