It seems that Google’s newest Pixel smartphones just can’t catch a break. Months before their actual launch, the Android flagships (especially the bigger Pixel 3 XL) were leaked in their full glory countless times. Now that the duo has been out for a month, the list of issues with the two smartphones seems to be getting bigger every day.
In the latest addition to that list, some Pixel 3 owners are reportedly experiencing overheating issues while charging their smartphones. Numerous users are reporting the problem on online channels like Reddit, Twitter, Google’s official support forums, and even YouTube videos.
According to 9to5Google, the overheating problem is so bad in some Pixel 3 units that it’s causing the smartphones to automatically shut down. As per reports, the issue seems to crop up when the smartphone is used for a resource-intensive task (such as extended video call) while it’s being charged.
As of now, it’s unclear how many Pixel 3 (and possibly Pixel 3 XL) units are affected by this overheating issue. Some users have even reported that a replacement device causes the problem to go away, so it’s quite possible that it’s a small batch of defective units.

Nonetheless, the continuously-growing list of issues (both hardware and software) with Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL is disappointing. Considering the sky-high prices that Google is asking for these abysmal-looking smartphones, it needs to do much better than just boasting about the devices’ great camera performance.
