WhatsApp has gradually grown to be one of the most popular multimedia messaging apps in the market. The popularity of the app is evident from its 200 million users in India, a number that was last updated back in February and likely to grow with the latest estimates. One of the reasons for the popularity of the app is the continued addition of new features in the app. Over the last couple of months, WhatsApp developers have added a number of features including GIF search, Google Drive backup, group video calling, and more recently sticker packs.
Another reason for the popularity of the apps is the ease to use when it comes to new users along with its widespread availability on a number of different platforms. To focus on a more recent development, the company launched its app for JioPhone and JioPhone 2 users in the market. For the uninitiated, JioPhone and JioPhone 2 are two of the smart feature phones that telecom operator Reliance Jio is currently selling in the market. The affordable pricing of both the devices make them much more lucrative for first time smartphone buyers than other devices currently available in the market.

Wide availability on multiple platforms along with the ease to use make WhatsApp ideal for growth. Taking into account the easy availability and affordability of JioPhone along with recently launched WhatsApp availability, we thought that it is a good time to revisit an essential yet old feature on WhatsApp.
The feature that we are talking about it “Last seen” that informs other WhatsApp users about our online activity. This includes if we are currently online and the time we were last online in case we are not currently online. More often then not, this feature is also associated with people checking if you have replied to their messages on WhatsApp in accordance to the last seen on the app. Something that is quite easy to misinterpret and often a cause of misunderstanding.
To stop the misunderstanding or even ensure personal privacy on WhatsApp, we have compiled the steps to hide your WhatsApp “Last seen”.
Step One
Launch WhatsApp on your device (regardless of it being Android, iOS, Windows Phone, or even Nokia S40) and tap on the three-dot menu to access Settings.
Step Two
Head to the ‘Privacy’ sub-menu under the ‘Account’ section and tap on ‘Last seen’ option.
Step Three
Tapping on the ‘Last seen’ option will present you with three options that include “Everyone”, “My Contacts”, and “Nobody”. If you choose “Everyone” then your last seen is visible to all the WhatsApp users on the platform, if you select “My contacts” then only the WhatsApp users that are part of your contact list can see your ‘Last seen’, and “Nobody” hides the ‘Last seen’ time from everyone. Select your choice and you are done. To hide the ‘Last seen’ from everyone, you need to tap on “Nobody”.
That’s it, you have successfully hidden your last seen from other WhatsApp users. One thing to note here is that the app will still show other users whenever you are online. Another thing to keep in mind is that if and when you disable your ‘Last seen’ time, you will not be able to see the ‘Last seen’ activity of other WhatsApp users.
