Honor’s last year mid-premium segment flagship smartphone Honor 8 is reportedly receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update in India. As reported by TheAndroidSoul, Honor has started shipping a large 2.35GB size EMUI 5.0.3 update based on Android 8.0 Oreo to Honor 8 smartphones in India.
The Android 8.0 Oreo based EMUI 5.0.3 comes with software version 8.0.0.513. The gradual rollout is said to be over-the-air (OTA), which means it might take some time before it reaches all Honor 8 units in India.
To note, initially there were some reports denying the Android Oreo update for Honor 8. Even Honor sighted “hardware and software limitations” as the reason for not rolling out Android 8.0 based EMUI 8.0 for the Honor 8 smartphones in January 2018, but in May Honor started a beta testing program in China. As of now, there is no official confirmation about this stable rollout from Honor.
Honor 8 was launched in India in October 2016 with EMUI 4.1 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It was the first dual-rear camera smartphone from Honor. The dual-rear camera too featured a combination of RGB sensor and a monochrome sensor.

The smartphone packed two 12-megapixel camera sensors at the back with aperture of f/2.2 and pixel size of 1.76-micron. The camera also had a dual LED flash, hybrid auto-focus, and laser autofocus for short range and depth focus for long range. It featured an 8-megapixel front-facing camera of aperture f/2.4 for selfies and video calling.
Under the hood it packed Huawei’s then flagship Kirin 950 octa-core processor built on 16nm architecture, paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage.
