Last month, Huawei launched its latest flagship smartphone globally, the Mate 20 Pro. The newest flagship device is the successor to the Huawei P20 Pro that was launched earlier this year, and represents the latest and most advanced smartphone technologies developed by the Chinese telecommunications and electronics giant. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is all set to launch in India later today, with the event set to kick off at 11AM in New Delhi.
The event will be streamed live on the company’s YouTube channel, with the show set to start at 11AM. You’ll be able to watch the entire keynote, where Huawei will introduce the new smartphone, along with details on pricing, availability and any launch offers specific to India. We do however know that the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will be sold on Amazon India, similar to other Huawei smartphones in the country. Huawei Mate 20 Pro specifications and features
The Mate 20 Pro comes with a 6.39-inch OLED panel that runs at a QHD+ resolution – 3120×1440 pixels, 538ppi, and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. At the heat of the Mate 20 Pro runs Huawei’s homebrewed HiSilicon 980 SoC built on the 7nm fabrication process. This makes Mate 20 Pro the first Android smartphone to be powered by a 7nm chipset. It also comes with a dedicated NPU for handling AI enabled tasks.
The CPU configuration includes two Cortex A76 cores clocked at 2.6GHz, two Cortex A76 cores clocked at 1.92GHz, and four Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The chipset is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage option. Huawei has also added an expandable storage option which allows you to use a proprietary memory card for expandable storage, which is sold only by Huawei for the time being.
The highlight of Mate 20 is the triple rear camera setup out of which one is a 40-megapixel primary sensor of f/1.8 aperture. The second is a 20-megapixel sensor of f/2.2 aperture with an ultra-wide angle lens. Lastly, the third sensor has 8-megapixel resolution with f/2.4 aperture, and it comes with a telephoto lens for portrait mode and optical zoom.
The Mate 20 Pro comes with a 4,200mAh battery with fast charging and wireless charging feature. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots with 4.5G VoLTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, GPS and Bluetooth. You also get a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfers. The smartphone is IP68-certified for water and dust resistance. On the software front, it runs Android 9 Pie, along with the company’s EMUI 9 user interface on top.
The Mate 20 Pro is priced at €1,049 (Rs 89,100 approximately), but it is likely that Huawei will price the device more competitively in India. We could well see a price tag that ranges closer to Rs 70,000, given that the phone will be an online-focused one.
