Nokia 6.1 Plus gets ‘Hide Notch’ option with Android 9 Pie update; here’s how to enable it

Apple introduced the iPhone X with a notched display last year, and since then, Android smartphone makers have been adopting the notched design language. Call it a design element or a compromise, the notch is here to stay, and this year, we have seen a water drop style tiny notch, a wide notch, and more. And while OEMs initially offered an option to hide the notch, HMD Global had removed it with the previous software update on Nokia 6.1 Plus and other devices.

When users outraged about the inability to hide the notch, HMD Global promised to bring it back. By enabling the hide notch option, black bars are added on either side of the notch, thus hiding it from being clearly visible. With the Android 9 Pie update, Nokia has added back the option to hide the notch, NokiaPowerUser reports.
