OnePlus 6 and 6T users can finally use Google Camera mod with Night Sight and HDR+

Google Pixel 3 is undoubtedly the best smartphone camera in the smartphone market. The impressive part about the device is that it manages to beat the likes of iPhone XS Max and Samsung Galaxy Note 9 with a single camera setup. As previously covered, Google’s supremacy in software and AI is what is helping Pixel 3 beat its competition to the punch. Considering that Google Pixel 3 lineup is sporting similar hardware to the competition when it comes to the SoC of the device along with the RAM, some experience Android developers have taken initiative to try and port the Google Camera app.

The porting effort is an attempt to try and bring the algorithms and AI to devices that may be more powerful in terms of the processing hardware. This is not new and developers have been successful in porting out a majority of features from the Google Pixel 3 series and Pixel 2 series to other devices. In fact, talking about Pixel 3 series, developers were also able to port the features to Google Pixel 2 lineup. Some developers are also working on porting the Google Camera software to OnePlus 6 and 6T devices in the market.

Talking about the Google Camera mod from the Google Pixel 3 to OnePlus 6 and 6T, some features such as the HDR+ and Night Sight mode were not working in previous versions. The last update to the Mod included removing the options for modes that were not working for both the devices. However, as reported by XDA Developers, senior developer Arnova8G2 has managed to successfully port Night Sight and HDR+ mode to both the devices.

This comes after the features were ported on devices including Xiaomi Mi 5, and Essential Phone. The developer is expected to release a stable version for the Google Camera mod in coming days.
