Nokia 8.1 specifications, features leaked ahead of December 5 launch

Ahead of official December 5 launch, alleged marketing material and specifications of the Nokia 8.1 have leaked out on the web. The global variant of China’s Nokia X7, which was internally code named ‘Nokia Phoenix’, is all set debut as Nokia 8.1 in India on December 5.

The premium mid-range Nokia 8.1 follows the same notch design language as the Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus. The leaked marketing material with Phoenix branding features same “ExpectMore” tag line as the previously shared official teaser by HMD Global.

As for the specifications, the leaked images show that Nokia 8.1 will be an Android One smartphone offering ‘the best of Android’. It will run latest Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. The screen will be a 6.18-inch PureDisplay IPS LED panel with Full-HD+ resolution of 2246×1080 pixels, “Superior Viewing” experience, and an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. Under the hood will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC and Adreno 616 GPU.

The Nokia 8.1 will come in 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM options with 64GB storage or 128GB storage. In the camera department, the smartphone will feature a dual-camera setup at the back comprising of a 12-megapixel primary sensor coupled with a 13-megapixel secondary sensor with telephoto lens for zoom and portrait mode. Upfront, there will be a 20-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling.

Connectivity options on the Nokia 8.1 could include dual-SIM card slots, Bluetooth, 4G with VoLTE, and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. There will be a 3,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging feature.
