Nokia X7 aka Nokia 7.1 Plus Android 9 Pie beta testing starts in China

Nokia has started accepting user registrations for the latest Android 9 Pie beta testing. HMD Global last month launched Nokia X7 in China with Android 8.1 Oreo OS, and promised that it will be soon be upgraded to Android 9 Pie.

The company on the nokibar forums of Baidu asked Nokia X7 users’ to register for the Android 9 Pie beta program. The devices which have been rooted before or have unlocked bootloader are not eligible for the beta testing. Nokia is also asking beta testers to sign a confidentiality agreement for the same, since it’s a closed beta testing. It has warned all beta testers to back up phone’s data before the process.

The closed beta testing usually follows a wider public beta testing, hence it’ll take some more time for the Nokia X7 to receive a stable update. According to GSMArena, HMD Global is currently testing Android 9 Pie closed beta for the model in China, and it intends to reach western markets next where the phone is branded as Nokia 7.1 Plus.

Among the highlights, the new Nokia X7 a.k.a Nokia 7.1 Plus comes with a front and back glass design, and edge-to-edge display with a notch on top. The smartphone also comes with dual cameras at the back, and Nokia has included ZEISS optics lens.
