After rolling out the Android 9.0 Pie beta update for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users in China, the company is now planning for the Open Beta build for OnePlus 5/5T globally. On its community forum, Oneplus has noted that OnePlus 5/5T users need to keep “patience” at this stage as the Open Beta is “almost out”.
Last week, OnePlus started rolling out the HydrogenOS 9.0 beta update based on Android 9.0 Pie for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users in China. OnePlus’ HydrogenOS is specific to China, while the OxygenOS gets rolled out to OnePlus devices globally.
“Some of you may have noticed that it has been 3 weeks since the last Open Beta build for OnePlus 5/5T. We’d like to shed some light that Pie for 5/5T is almost out for Open Beta. Patience and love are all we need at this stage, as we don’t have to keep staring at the oven when it’s on,” wrote OnePlus on its forum.
Considering that OnePlus’ Android Pie-based Open Beta for OnePlus 5/5T is “almost out”, we are expecting similar changes and improvements in the OxygenOS as company pushed for the UI in China. The update is expected to bring new full-screen gestures for OnePlus 5/5T like the OnePlus 6/6T long with usual Android P based interface icons, call UI interface, redesigned weather app, and more.

If the Open Beta testing phase works fine for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users, then a wider rollout may happen towards the end of 2018, or early 2019.
