OnePlus has started rolling out the newest update for its last year’s smartphones, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. The new OxygenOS update is numbered as 5.1.7, and it brings some important changes to the last generation phones from the Chinese manufacturer. The new update brings with it Project Treble, a Bluetooth fix, and October 2018 security patch for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T.
The new update from OnePlus is going to keep support for Project Treble on the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, which we have being seeing in the last few updates. Project Treble from Google ensures that the devices receive updates in a timely manner. Sideloading an Android 9.0 Pie Generic System Image onto a OnePlus 5 or 5T will now give users a Google Pixel-like experience. Besides this there is some good news for Vodafone-Idea users, as they will now be able to use the VoLTE services from the telecom provider in the default on mode.
OnePlus has also fixed some of the Bluetooth issues that the users have been facing on the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T smartphones. Among the Bluetooth related improvements is a fix for the unstable Bluetooth connectivity with cars. OnePlus has also improved the Bluetooth connections to the devices during calls.
Besides these there are general bug fixes, and the update can be downloaded over the air. The update is usually automatically detected by the device and it prompts the user to implement it. OnePlus has already confirmed that it is working on Android 9 Pie update for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T.
