Alibaba sells $3 billion worth of goods in the first 5 minutes of Singles’ Day Sale; Apple, Xiaomi top brands

Alibaba is today hosting its Singles’ Day Sale, which happens to be one of the biggest online sales in the world. And from what the e-commerce platform reports it has yet again achieved a new milestone. Alibaba has claimed that it sold $3 billion worth of goods in the first five minutes of the sale kicking off.

This is huge for the e-commerce platform, and it had racked in over $1 billion in just a minute and 25 seconds. In a mere 10 hours time that number has increased to $10 billion. If we compare these numbers to those from last year when Alibaba sold goods worth $25 million in the 24 hours that the sale was held, then we can conclude that the sale will probably reach bigger numbers this year. Among the brands that sold the most number of items at the sale so far are Apple and Xiaomi. Apple is considered to be one of the top tech companies in the world and Xiaomi is one of the biggest tech companies of China which is turn is a country with one of the biggest economies in the world.

Los Angeles, Tokyo and Frankfurt were among the global cities from which Alibaba saw some of the most orders coming in from.
