OnePlus 6T ‘Thunder Purple’ color variant could soon launch in India

Last month, OnePlus launched its much-anticipated OnePlus 6T smartphone at an event in New York, bringing it to India just a day later (October 30). Having been available in India for about two weeks now, OnePlus’ newest ‘flagship killer’ has been having a great run in the country so far. That not a surprise either, since the 6T (like all its predecessors) offers bleeding-edge hardware at a price that still remains (despite increasingly steadily every generation) fairly competitive.

Now, OnePlus 6T offers a lot of value as far as raw hardware is concerned. It even looks quite good, complete with an almost bezel-less display and a premium glass design. However, the standard Black paint job leaves a lot to be desired. It’s true that the smartphone comes in two distinct finishes – Mirror Black and Midnight Black – but at the end of the day, it’s Black. In a world where rivals like Huawei offer smartphones with funky multi-colored back panels, OnePlus 6T looks a tad bland. However, that may change soon.

It’s possible that the company is planning to launch a new color variant of OnePlus 6T in India soon. Dubbed ‘Thunder Purple,’ this variant was recently launched in OnePlus’ home country of China.

The information comes courtesy of a tweet that OnePlus posted via its official India handle.

It’s worth mentioning that the company recently posted the exact same tweet via its global handle. This means that OnePlus plans to take the ‘Thunder Purple’ variant global, not wanting to restrict it to the Chinese market. However, there’s no timeframe as to when exactly we’ll see the global (and Indian) launch of the ‘Thunder Purple’ OnePlus 6T.

This particular color variant of OnePlus 6T, which was recently launched in China, features 8GB of RAM and 256GB of on-board storage, so it’s quite possible the ‘Thunder Purple’ variant will launch in India with the same configuration. Since that model (in Black color) is already available in the country at a price of Rs 45,999, it’s quite likely that the ‘Thunder Purple’ version will have the same price.
