OnePlus invites participants for OnePlus 6T Closed Beta program

OnePlus has announced the Closed Beta program to test out upcoming features for the OnePlus 6T. The company will be taking 100 participants for the program similar to the OnePlus 6 Closed Beta. The testers in Closed Beta group for the OnePlus 6T will get builds and features weeks or even months before they are released to the public. These participants will be asked to sign an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) with OnePlus to be part of this program.

“The Closed Beta program is an opportunity for us to listen to your feedback and refine or revise our product strategy based on that. It also helps us to find major bugs at an early stage and release more stable Open Beta and MP (official) builds,” noted a moderator on the OnePlus Forum.

OnePlus notes that these 100 participants in the Closed Beta program will be selected on certain requirement criteria. Apart from owning a OnePlus 6T, the group member needs to be an active member of the OnePlus Community and should be willing to constantly communicate and provide feedback to the OnePlus team on Slack.

Also being part of this program will require flashing builds very often and sometimes a clean flash is needed, which will cause data loss, added OnePlus. Lastly, these Closed Beta testers will be testing OxygenOS, and not HydrogenOS. OxygenOS is the global software for OnePlus smartphones, present on devices sold in markets outside of China.

HydrogenOS is specific to China, while the OxygenOS gets rolled out to OnePlus devices globally. The primary difference between the two is that HydrogenOS does not come with Google services, since these are inactive in China. The Closed Beta is the first stage of the software testing process involving end users, and will be followed closely by the start of the Open Beta program.
