OxygenOS 9.0.5 update for OnePlus 6T brings improvements to Screen unlock

OnePlus has announced the rollout of the latest update for its latest flagship smartphone in the market, the OnePlus 6T. According to the announcement, OnePlus 6T devices in the market will start receiving the new update which will bring the OxygenOS version to 9.0.5. This new update comes days after the company started rolling out the OxygenOS 9.0.4. However, it looks like the latest update is just a tweak or an improvement to fix bugs that may have shipped with 9.0.4. OnePlus staff member Manu J who is responsible for the Beta program and developer relations took to the official OnePlus forums to announce this new update.

According to the dedicated post, there are not many changes in the new update. Version 9.0.5 comes with improvements to the screen unlock feature along with usual bug fixes under the hood. The company also called out for feedback from users that will help the company improve the software experience along with optimizations. The post also stated that the update will roll out in a “staged” manner. This means that OnePlus is sending out this update “to a limited number of devices” to ensure that there are no undetected critical bugs in the update.

In case of a significant bug, “staged” rollout of the update allows the company to pause the update to fix it. This also ensures that only a small number of devices will be affected by the buggy update.

The company also added that users will have to wait for the update to roll out to their device and they will not be able to use VPN to download the update early. This comes right after OnePlus launched the Thunder Purple color variant of the 6T in China.
