Popular PC game Rome: Total War will be coming to Android soon

Fans of Rome: Total War, one of the most widely regarded strategy games for PC gamers, will be happy to know that the game is receiving a port to Android. While the game has been available for iPad devices since 2016 and iPhones since August this year, game developer Feral Interactive has now announced that the game will receive an Android version in the coming weeks.

The game is part of the Total War series, and puts the player in a simulation based on the early Roman Empire. Gameplay on Rome: Total War involves real-time tactical battles and turn-based strategic campaigning, handling various aspects of the Roman empire that they are managing in the game. The game was originally released in 2004 on the Windows platform, but has continued to receive support and later ports to different platforms.

In recent years, the increasing power and capabilities of smartphones have made these devices capable of running graphically and computationally-intensive games that were previously limited to PCs and gaming consoles. These have included popular iterations of the Grand Theft Auto, Crazy Taxi and Final Fantasy series, to name a few. The port of Rome: Total War on iOS is widely considered among the better adaptations for modern mobile devices, and its entry to Android will make it further accessible to mobile gamers.

Pricing on Android has not been confirmed yet, but it is expected to be a paid purchase similar to the iOS version. While many modern games rely on the ‘freemium’ payment model, Rome: Total War will likely have a one-time purchase price after which the game will be playable in its entirety. On iOS, Rome: Total War is currently priced at Rs 799 in India, and Android pricing could be along the same lines.
