Realme 2, Realme C1 prices in India hiked by up to Rs 1,000

Rupee has been steadily falling against dollar for the past few months, and that difference in value is affecting smartphone makers. Realme is one such company that is feeling the heat due to the rising dollar price, and the company’s CEO Madhav Seth recently hinted that the company will have to increase the prices of its smartphones if Rupee doesn’t stop falling.

Now, soon after the Diwali sale ended on Flipkart, Realme has hiked the prices of two of its smartphones. The Realme C1 that was launched in India at Rs 6,999, sees a hike of Rs 1,000, and it will now be available for Rs 7,999. The Realme 2, which was launched for Rs 8,990, now sees a hike of Rs 500. Following the hike, the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage variant is now priced at Rs 9,499, but thankfully the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage variant is still priced at Rs 10,999.

Watch: How Realme phones are made

Realme started as an online-only company under Oppo’s umbrella, and it is now operating as a separate entity. Apart from official online store and Flipkart, Realme smartphones are now available offline with Reliance Digital and Digital Xpress mini stores.

The Realme C1 packs impressive specifications for the price point. It comes with a 6.2-inch notched display, a dual camera module at the back, 4,320mAh battery, Snapdragon 450 SoC and a glass back design.

The Realme 2, on the other hand, also comes with same display, chipset and battery as the Realme C1. However, the things that change include a higher resolution front camera, more RAM and storage, and a physical fingerprint scanner.
