At an event in New Delhi, Xiaomi today launched its new Redmi Note 6 Pro smartphone for the Indian market. Successor to the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the new smartphone comes with dual front cameras, improved rear cameras, a notched display, and some design refinements. At its price point, the smartphone will compete with the likes of Honor 8X and Realme 2 Pro. We compared all three devices based on their price in India, specifications and features. Here’s a closer look at the how they fare.
Price in India, availability
The Redmi Note 6 Pro is priced at Rs 13,999 for the base model whereas the one with 6GB RAM is priced at Rs 15,999. It goes on sale tomorrow, November 23 at 12:00PM via Flipkart and mi.com/in. Xiaomi is also offering special Rs 1,000 discount as a part of its first day sale, which also coincides with Black Friday.
The Honor 8X India price starts at Rs 14,999 for 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model. There are two more variants priced at Rs 16,999 (6GB RAM with 64GB storage), and a top-end variant priced at Rs 18,999 (6GB RAM with 128GB storage). You can buy the Honor 8X from Amazon India.
The Realme 2 Pro, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 13,990 for the 4GB RAM variant, and Rs 15,990 for the 6GB RAM variant, whereas the top model with 8GB RAM will set you back by Rs 17,990. You can purchase it from Flipkart.

Design and display
The Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with a metal back, whereas the Realme 2 Pro comes with polymer glass back. The Honor 8X, on the other hand, has a nice glass back design and a dual tone finish, offering it a premium look and feel.
In terms of display, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is equipped with a 6.24-inch full HD+ 18:9 panel, and comes with notched display. It has an aspect ratio of 19:9. Both Honor 8X and Realme 2 Pro feature notched displays. While the Realme 2 Pro has a 6.3-inch FHD+ display, the Honor 8X comes with a 6.5-inch FHD+ panel. Both smartphone displays run at a resolution of 1080x2340pixels and aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
Specifications
The Redmi Note 6 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core SoC paired with 4GB / 6GB RAM with 64GB storage. The Honor 8X is powered by a Kirin 710 octa-core SoC, paired with 4GB / 6GB RAM and 64GB / 128GB storage options. Lastly, the Realme 2 Pro, is powered by a Snapdragon 660 SoC and comes with 4GB / 6GB / 8GB RAM options and 64GB / 128GB storage options.
All three smartphones also come with a microSD card slot for expandable storage. To keep things ticking, the Redmi Note 6 Pro is armed with a 4,000mAh battery, the Realme 2 Pro comes with a 3,500mAh battery, whereas the Honor 8X comes with 3,750mAh battery. Talking about connectivity Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, and dual-SIM card slots with 4G VoLTE is common among all three devices. For security, you get a fingerprint scanner on all three smartphones.
Software
The Redmi Note 6 Pro runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 skin out-of-the-box. The Honor 8X runs Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.1, whereas the Realme 2 Pro also runs Android 8.1 Oreo with Color OS on top. All three smartphone makers have promised Android 9 Pie update for the responsive smartphones, but there is no word on when it will be rolled out.
Cameras
Cameras are an important aspect of the smartphones today. The Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with a 12-megapixel primary sensor of f/1.9 aperture, and a 5-megapixel secondary depth sensor, whereas the Honor 8X includes a 20-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The Realme 2 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. All three smartphone cameras are backed by AI with scene detection to help you capture better photos.
For selfies, the Realme 2 Pro and Honor 8X come with 16-megapixel front cameras, whereas the Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with dual front cameras, a combination that includes 20-megapixel primary snapper and a 2-megapixel secondary snapper. All three smartphones also support face unlock feature.
