For quite a few weeks now, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A8s has been in the rumors. While the A-series has never been known to pack top-of-the-line features, thins are a bit different when it comes to the A8s. That’s because it’s rumored to be Samsung’s first smartphone to have the ‘Infinity-O’ display, which the chaebol detailed last month at a developer conference in San Francisco.
In case you’re not already aware, ‘Infinity-O’ is one of the three new types of displays that Samsung intends to use on its future smartphones. Essentially, ‘Infinity-O’ design consists of a hole ‘punched’ into the smartphone’s display panel, under which the front-facing camera can be placed. This way, a bezel-less display can be achieved and there’s no need for a notch either.
Even though Samsung hasn’t detailed anything about the upcoming Galaxy A8s yet, if a new report is any indication, the smartphone may be nearing launch.
According to recent reports, Samsung Galaxy A8s was recently certified by Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the United States government’s agency responsible for overseeing and regulating wireless communications. Interestingly, the certification also sheds some light on the key features of the upcoming A8s.

As per the FCC certification, Samsung Galaxy A8s will come with a 6.3-inch FullHD+ display with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is also expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, with support for microSD cards of up to 512GB. Samsung Galaxy A8s may also come with a tri-lens camera system at the back, comprised of a 24-megapixel unit, a 10-megapixel unit, and a 5-megapixel unit. A 24-megapixel lens is also expected up front for selfies and video calls. All standard connectivity options will be there, with a 3,400mAh battery rounding off the spec sheet.
