As we prepare for the new year in few weeks and thus gear up for new smartphones, it is time when older devices tend to receive price drops. After Vivo Y7i and Vivo Y81 received a price cut recently, Samsung Galaxy J8 and Galaxy J6+ are also being discounted in India.
According to Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom, Samsung Galaxy J8 and Galaxy J6+ are available at new price of Rs 15,990 and Rs 14,490 respectively. To recall, the Galaxy J8 was launched in India as company’s first budget device with Infinity Display design for Rs 18,990. The Galaxy J6+, on the other hand, was launched at a retail price of Rs 15,990. The new discounted price is only listed for the Galaxy J6+ on Samsung’s own e-shop while the Galaxy J8 is listed for Rs 17,990 on the online retail platform.
Samsung Galaxy J8 and Galaxy J6+: Specifications
The highlight of the Galaxy J8 and Galaxy J6+ is the support for Infinity Display Design that was first seen on Galaxy S flagship series, and trickled down to Galaxy A series a year later. The Galaxy J8 features a plastic body and is powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 450 chipset coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It features a 6-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1480×720 pixels, and taller 18.5:9 aspect ratio.
It comes in two storage variants: the base model with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM variant with 64GB storage. The Galaxy J8 sports dual rear camera setup with 16-megapixel main sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. There is also a 16-megapixel selfie shooter with f/1.9 aperture and dedicated LED flash. It features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and runs Android Oreo. The Galaxy J8 is backed by a 3,500mAh battery, and is available in black, gold, blue and purple colors.
The Galaxy J6+, on the other hand, also features a 6-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution of 1480×720 pixels, and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Snapdragon 425 SoC coupled with Adreno 308 GPU, 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB storage. It also has dual rear camera setup with 13-megapixel main sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. At the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter with wider f/1.9 aperture and LED flash.

It supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 4G LTE, and offers a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo and is backed by a 3,300mAh battery. The Galaxy J6+ is available in red, blue, grey and back color options.
