LG is reportedly preparing to launch a replacement series to the popular G series on May 15. The alleged information comes from the company’s home region. As per the Korean news publication Naver (via XDA-Developers), LG revealed this information on a product briefing which was attended by a few Korean telecom operators.
It’s been reported that LG also shared information like the support for 5G connectivity and Snapdragon 7-series chipsets will be the key highlights of upcoming all-new series of phones on May 15. It is a little strange that LG will instead launch the phone with the 7 series chipset and not use flagship Snapdragon 865 SoC, considering that it will be the replacement of the LG G series of phones.
Going by the report, we can safely assume that LG will either use Snapdragon 765 or 765G SoCs for this new of series phones because these are the only 7-series chipsets from Qualcomm to feature a 5G modem. Just before the MWC, there were many rumors and leaks about the LG’s G9 ThinQ smartphone. The South Korean company was expect to showcase the phone during the mega event but unfortunately the MWC 2020 got called off due to Coronavirus outbreak.
The rumors had suggested that the smartphone could feature a horizontally-stacked quad rear camera setup, placed centrally. The LG G9 ThinQ will tipped to flaunt an almost bezel-less display with a waterdrop notch.

But coming back to the latest information, now it appears that the 7-series chipset will allow LG to put a more aggressive price point on its upcoming phone lineup. At present, there is no confirmation on what this new series will be called, but considering last week’s rumor, we could see the old Chocolate line make a comeback.
