The Microsoft Surface Duo is set to be a pretty exciting device. It comes from Microsoft, runs on Android, has two screens and can unfold to be a tablet-sized device. We even saw the device in action in a photograph earlier. However, if you have been waiting to see what the Surface Duo’s camera looks like, we now have our first look at a camera sample.
Microsoft’s hardware chief Panos Panay recently shared a picture on Instagram. The photo was taken with the Microsoft Surface Duo. It doesn’t reveal much about the specifications of the camera, which has been under wraps all this time. However, it does give us our first look at what the camera is capable of.

The Surface Duo’s camera capabilities have been one of the secrets kept ahead of the phone’s supposed to launch later this year. The single photo that we have doesn’t let us draw any conclusions on the camera either. Further, Instagram also puts in between some compression that doesn’t give us the actual product on our screens.
However, considering the phone/tablet will not be launching anytime soon, we are still far away from actual full-resolution camera samples to ‘surface’ on the web. Until then, this is the best we have. However, as per campaign around the Surface Duo, it is understandable that this is not a device that will focus on camera capabilities. It instead will focus on productivity and various use-cases of the dual-display. Hence, it is unlikely that the camera setup on the Duo will compete with top flagships right now for camera quality or features. However, that maybe something the Surface 2 or 3 could include.
Microsoft Surface Duo could launch earlier than expected
According to Zac Bowden from Windows Central, Microsoft apparently wants to launch the Surface Duo earlier that the initially planned holiday 2020 schedule. However, that will be tough to accomplish with the globe at a standstill right now due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We should, however, expect more updates from Microsoft in the coming weeks.
