Smartphone makers are facing the most challenging quarter yet. With most parts of the world now under some kind of lockdown, smartphone makers are left with little or no sales. India, which is one of the fastest growing smartphone markets, has not seen any smartphone shipment in April. While the second quarter of this year remains challenging, the first quarter saw its largest year-over-year decline yet. According to IDC, the worldwide smartphone market declined 11.7 percent year-over-year in Q1 2020 due to COVID-19.
