Xiaomi Redmi 9 Power goes on sale in India today: Is it a good buy?

Xiaomi’s recently launched budget smartphone dubbed the Redmi 9 Power goes on sale in India for the first time today. The smartphone is already up for grabs but the question is should you buy it? In my opinion, the Redmi 9 Power is worth every penny. It’s a perfect blend of looks and features and is one of the best smartphones you can get under the price tag of Rs 11,000 in India right now. The Redmi 9 Power starts at a price point of Rs 10,999 for the base 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model.

The smartphone is available across various platforms including Xiaomi’s official website Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and also on Amazon.in. The phone is available in two variants — the base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage at a price tag of Rs 10,999 while the top end model with 4GB RAM + 128GB storage comes at Rs 11,999. There’s also a microSD card support with which you will be able to expand the storage further up to 512GB storage.

The design is one of the key highlights of the Redmi 9 Power. The textured matte finish adds to the overall aesthetics of the design of the phone. The Redmi phone comes in many vibrant colours including blazing blue, mighty black, electric green and fiery red. All the colour options are available in the country starting today.

Redmi 9 Power specifications

The Redmi 9 Power is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor with Qualcomm Adreno 610 GPU coupled with up to 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It includes a 6.53 inches FHS+ IPS display that offers screen resolution of 2340×1080 and aspect ratio of 19:5:9. Xiaomi claims that the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

On the camera front, the Redmi 9 Power includes four image sensors at the back and single sensor on the front. On the back panel, the phone packs a 48-megapixel primary sensor, 8-megapixel secondary sensor, 2-megapixel macro lens and lastly a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, the phone includes an 8-megapixel image sensor that sits inside a dot display. In my opinion, for the price the Redmi 9 Power’s cameras perform pretty well.

One of the biggest highlights of the smartphone is the battery. The phone includes a massive 6000mAh battery paired with 18W fast charging support inside the box, which is great. It also includes USB Type C support. I’m impressed with how well the phone has been balanced despite packing such a big battery inside. The phone also includes a side mounted fingerprint sensor and face ID support.
