OnePlus 6T launch event pushed to October 29 to avoid clash with Apple

China-based smartphone maker OnePlus has just announced that it will be shifting the launch event of its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6T from October 30, to October 29. The company posted a dedicated post on its official OnePlus forums to explain the reason behind the shift. OnePlus claimed that it was “convinced” that October 30 will allow the company to maximize the number of people it reached with the launch announcement. But, the recent announcement by Apple about their October 30 launch event changed things for the company. It added that the goal of the shift was to make sure that the OnePlus 6T gets “the time and attention” from the world that “it deserves”.

The company clarified that it discussed the impact of Apple launch event on the OnePlus 6T launch event with its press contacts. After considering honest, thoughtful and considered feedback about the impact, the OnePlus 6T “would be overshadowed by Apple.” OnePlus added that it also discussed it with “some of” its “most loyal users” to ensure that the community had an equal say in the discussion along with internal discussions to arrive at the decision.

The post added that OnePlus had to consider “the reality” of the situation and it could not “let one of the most important products” in its history “be affected by another great product launch”. OnePlus added that everyone who has an air travel ticket and will not be able to make it to the event can “apply for a full refund of their ticket”.

OnePlus will also cover any cost involved in changing the plan for anyone who still plans to attend the event. This includes any extra payment to move their flights, hotel bookings, or any other arrangements.
