Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 back panel leaked; unlikely to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner

Xiaomi is set to launch the flagship Mi MIX 3 in a week, and more detailed specs and images of the device continue to leak on Weibo. A leak yesterday showed how the slider mechanism on the device will work, and some portrait shots taken on the camera too were shared. Now, yet another leak on Weibo showcases the back panel of the upcoming Mi MIX 3.

Xiaomi seems to be sticking with the use of glass or ceramic on the back of the Mi MIX 3 device. The leaked image shows two devices kept side-by-side in two body colors – glossy black and blue. From the photo, we can make out the USB Type-C port, microphone, and speaker grille at the bottom, and clearly there won’t be a headphone jack. The glass is curved on the sides, which should improve the grip of the device. The dual-camera module is located in the same place as on the Xiaomi Mi 8, and continues to protrude above the glass or ceramic back.

The leaked photo also shows a fingerprint sensor on the back of the smartphone, so the rumors about the Mi MIX 3 having an-display fingerprint sensor is not true. Although there could be a special edition with 512GB storage, and 10GB of RAM that could come with the special fingerprint sensor.

Weibo also has another photo of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3, which shows the front side. This photo shows the thickness of the frames around the display. There is however the exception of a slightly thickened bottom chin similar to the likes of the Vivo NEX or Oppo Find X. The announcement of Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 is scheduled for October 25, and further details regarding the price and software features of the device will be known then.
