It looks like Xiaomi’s first smartphone with stock Android, the Xiaomi Mi A1 is likely to get the Android 9 Pie-update soon. We know this because a Xiaomi Mi A1 device with Android 9 Pie was spotted on the benchmarking website Geekbench. This means that developers are working on the update and testing the performance of the software. The device is expected to receive the update as it is part of the Android One program where Xiaomi has tied up with Google to provide the latest updates to the device. The device has received monthly Android security patches like clockwork and the device was initially launched with Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
The company just needs to ensure that it has thoroughly tested the update before rolling out the update to users. This is because of the number of bugs and multiple recalls that Xiaomi had to do when it launched Android 8.0 Oreo update for the device. Talking about Android 9 Pie update, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S is the only device in the Xiaomi portfolio that has been updated to the latest Android version. The listing was initially reported by GizmoChina and the report also noted that the Single-core and Multi-core scores of Mi A1 with the new update were slightly higher than the average.

It is possible that the slightly higher score is likely because of the optimizations in the new upcoming update. One thing to note here is that Xiaomi as not done any official announcement about its timeline of rolling out the update though it may be coming in upcoming weeks.
To recap, Xiaomi Mi A1 is powered by Snapdragon 625 and runs 4GB RAM while sporting a 5.5-inch LCD display panel with FHD+ resolution. The device runs on a 3,080mAh battery.
