Asus ROG Phone gaming smartphone launched in India, priced at Rs 69,999: Specifications, features

Asus India has just launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Asus ROG Phone in the market. The company has priced the device at Rs 69,999, and it will be available as a Flipkart exclusive starting today. Along with the launch of the smartphone, the company has also revealed a number of launch offers to go along with the device. These offers include an easy no-cost EMI with options for six, nine, and 12 months for all credit and debit cards.

ROG Phone is focused on providing a comprehensive gaming experience for mobile users who are looking to purchase a gaming-centric smartphone as heavy games such as Fortnite, and PUBG Mobile gain traction. The company has also launched a number of accessories including Professional dock for Rs 5,499, GameVice (Joystick) for Rs 5,999, TwinView dock for Rs 21,999, Desktop Dock for Rs 12,999, and ROG Phone Case for Rs 2,499.

The company added that it teamed up with the ROG (Republic of Gamers) team that is responsible for creating the top-end gaming peripheral and hardware for Asus to create the ROG smartphone. The company claimed that the device comes with the top of the line mobile hardware along with support for major Asus ROG gaming peripherals along with a number of new peripherals that have been developed especially for the smartphone. Asus added that it wants to provide a no-compromise experience to gamers.

Taking a closer look at the device, Asus ROG Phone comes with a 6-inch AMOLED display with HD+ resolution (1080×2160 pixels), 18:9 aspect ratio, 402ppi pixel density, with Wide color Gamut support, HDR support, and 90Hz refresh rate. The company has also added Gorilla Glass 6 both on the front as well as on the back of the smartphone. ROG Phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with octa-core CPU, Adreno 630 GPU, 128GB internal storage along with 8GB RAM.

The device does not come with a microSD card slot for additional storage space. In terms of controls, the company has added three ultrasonic pressure sensitive zones on the top and bottom sides of the device to give gamers more controls in an effort to mimic a gaming controller. Moving to the camera module of the device, the device comes with a dual 12-megapixel camera sensor on the back with dual pixel Phase Detection Auto Focus. Both the camera sensors will come with f/1.8 aperture and 24mm focal length along with 4-axis Optical Image Stabilization.

ROG Phone can record 4K video up to 60fps along with a slow-motion video mode to 1080p resolution and 240fps. Asus has added electronic stabilization during video recording. Moving to the front, the device features an 8-megapixel camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture. In terms of connectivity options, the device comes with Wi-Fi, Dual-Nano SIM slot, GPS, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, FM radio, 3.5mm audio socket, USB 3.1 Type-C port on the bottom along with a proprietary dual USB Type-C port on the left side of the device. The proprietary port is used to connect USB Type-C-based accessories to the device.

The company has also added a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device along with an RGB ROG logo. The device is powered by a 4,000mAh battery with support for Quick charge 4+ out-of-the-box. ROG Phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based skinned version of the operating system.
