The arrival of Reliance Jio undoubtedly kicked off a tariff war in the Indian telecom sector, and it’s not about to get over anytime soon. With private players like Vodafone, Airtel, and Idea coming out with increasingly lucrative offerings on a near-daily basis, state-owned telcos are finding it increasingly hard to keep up in today’s fiercely-competitive market. However, BSNL isn’t the one to give up!
For the past few months, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has been busy ramping up its plans (both cellular and broadband) to bring in new customers and retain existing ones. Now, the state-run telecom operator has come up with a new offering, under which it’s handing out 1GB of free data to all its mobile subscribers.
If you’re a BSNL mobile subscriber, you can get the additional data by following a simple step. All you have to do is download the My BSNL app on your smartphone, and 1GB free data will be credited to your account.
According to a report by Telecom Talk, the additional data comes with a validity of 30 days and can be used to supplement any existing data pack that the customer may already have. For example, if you have an existing data plan and it gets exhausted before the last day of validity period, you can continue browsing using the additional 1GB data. The offer is valid until December 31, 2018.

As noted by Telecom Talk, the telco’s revamped My BSNL app has been built in collaboration with Call2Action Communication India Pvt. Ltd. The app lets users pay their bills, check payment history, top-up prepaid vouchers, and more.
