Lenovo becomes tablet PC market leader in India with 22 percent share in Q3: CMR

Lenovo has reportedly become leader in India’s tablet PC market with 22 percent market share after the third quarter, according to CyberMedia Research’s (CMR) “Tablet PC Market Report Review”.

As per report, Lenovo’s tablet PC market in India witnessed a 6 percent growth in the third quarter of 2018 and overall tablet market in India recorded 0.83 million unit shipments in Q3. The second position was followed by iBall at 16 percent market share, while Samsung slipped to third with 15 percent.

CMR says that Lenovo’s dominance in Q3 was mainly due to the demand from the education and financial services sectors.

Lenovo continues to be on the first position in the overall tablet market, and most of the tablets were 4G and 3G. Tab 4 series had the highest sale in Q3 of 2018,” noted CMR (via TelecomTalk).

Overall tablet PC market was majorly dominated by 4G tablet shipments, which recorded 47 percent sequential growth in the third quarter, according to CMR findings. It also noted that the trend will follow for coming quarter quarter as well. The 4G tablet market is expected to grow to 60 percent of the overall tablet market.

Last week, the research organization published smartphone shipments report, where it noted that Realme had the maximum growth rate in smartphone shipment during festive season in India. The Chinese company, which started as Oppo’s entity, was reportedly number one emerging brand during September-October period recording over 600 percent growth in comparison to July-August period.
