PUBG or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has become a phenomenon, and people all over are getting into it. Even though the PC version of the game came first, the Xbox and the mobile versions that followed have managed to gain much more popularity. PUBG is all about guns and using them properly.

And since knowing the game goes a long way in winning it, players can always get better results when they know which guns to use and which best suits their style of play. PUBG has Pistols, Shotguns, Submachine Guns, Assault Rifles, Designated Marksmen Rifles, and bolt action Sniper Rifles classified into different classes. We take a closer look at the different Pistols and SMGs in the game, and the specialties of each of these. Pistols and SMGs come with options to mod that include magazine mods, grips, muzzle mods and scopes and sights.

We will be ranking the Pistols and SMGs based on three variables, which are damage, rate of fire, and recoil in the ascending order.

10 – P18C

Pistols are guns that are most useful during the beginning of the game and the most basic among the pistols with the second least damage is P18C. This is a pistol that has a damage of 23 and can be fired using single mode or a fully auto mode. It comes with normal magazine that holds 17 9mm bullets and can be extended to 25. It can be attached with a magazine mod, laser sight, suppressor and a sight.

9 – P1911

The P1911 is the most basic .45ACP bullet using gun in the game. This pistol deals 41 damage which is pretty high considering that it is a pistol. But it only holds 7 bullets in the default magazine and 12 with an extended mag. It can only be fired in a single shot mode which puts it at a disadvantage later in the game. It can be attached with a magazine mod, laser sight, suppressor and a sight.

8 – P92

This is the counterpart of the P1911 pistol and uses 9mm ammo. The P92 deals 35 damage, which is less than the P1911, but still quite good for a pistol. It holds 15 bullets in the default magazine and 20 with an extended mag. Like the P1911, this can only be fired in a single shot mode which puts it at a disadvantage later in the game. It can be attached with a magazine mod, laser sight, suppressor and a sight.

7 – R1895

The R1895 is the only pistol class gun in the game that uses 7.62mm ammo and it deals damage that is more than an AKM. It deals the highest amount of damage by any pistol in the game which is 55 and is tied by the R45 revolver. The R1895 is a revolver that only holds 7 bullets and has a very long reload time and only a single fire mode with high recoil. This can only be fit with a suppressor in terms of mods.

6 – R45

The R45, like the R1895 is revolver that deals 55 damage, which is higher than most Assault Rifles. The R45 revolver only holds 6 bullets but what makes it among the best in the pistol class is that it has a very quick reload time and not as much recoil as the R1895. It can be attached with a laser sight and a sight.

5 – Skorpion

The Skorpion is the newest member of the pistol class and is definitely the most deadly. This is despite the fact that it has the lowest damage among all the pistols at 22. But where it beats out all the other guns is that it can be attached with a stock from the UZI, an extended mag that increases the 20 bullet capacity to 40, a vertical grip, a suppressor and a red dot sight. This essentially makes it a SMG that can be carried in the pistol slot.

4 – Micro UZI

The Micro UZI is the most common SMG available in the game, and according to top casters and PlayerUnknown himself, it is the deadliest gun in the game. The reasoning being that this gun has the highest rate of fire among all the guns in PUBG. The UZI has a magazine that holds 25 9mm bullets and 35 with an extended mag. It can be attached with a stock and a muzzle attachment as well. It does not support a sight or scope which makes it difficult for some people to use. It has a damage of 26 which is the lowest among all the SMGs.

3 – Tommy Gun

The Tommy Gun was a superstar in PUBG at one point of time and was only available as an air drop loot crate weapon. But it has since fallen in popularity because people just didn’t want to use it much. Despite that it remains a pretty good gun. It has a damage of 40, which is the highest among SMGs and comes with a normal magazine of 30 bullets that can be extended to 50. It also supports a vertical foregrip and a suppressor. It cannot be equipped with a sight which puts it in the same dilemma as the UZI.

2 – Vector

The Vector is the SMG that comes with the capability to be attached with most number of mods among all the SMGs. It has a decent damage at 34, and can be equipped with a stock of the M416, an extended mag, a vertical grip, a muzzle mod and a scope or sight. It’s normal mag only holds 13 bullets which can be extended to 25. The Vector has a very high rate of fire which means that players burn through magazines in the blink of an eye.

1 – UMP9

The UMP9 is definitely the most popular SMG in the game. It is a standard SMG that can be equipped with a magazine mod, grip, muzzle and a sight or a scope. It has the second highest damage in the game at 39 and comes with a normal magazine of 30 9mm bullets that can be extended to 40. It has a decent rate of fire that is lower than the UZI and Vector, but it is comparable to some Assault Rifles in terms of viability as a late game weapon. It is the most balanced SMG in the game yet.

We may have ranked the guns according to what we think the variables said, but all said and done, it is up to the user to best use them. It does not necessarily mean that having a better gun will win the game, but using it properly will. And always use guns that suit your play style and not what rankings say.
