Xiaomi Mi A2, the second Android One device from the Chinese smartphone maker, recently got updated to Android 9 Pie. Now, it is the turn of its sibling, the Mi A2 Lite. The Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite are part of Android One program, which promises faster software updates. While the devices launched early this year, the Mi A2 received the Android Pie update only recently.
The Mi A2 Lite received a beta build of Android 9 Pie a coupled of weeks ago and now it is getting updated with the stable build. The Chinese smartphone maker has probably deemed that the build does not have any bugs and thus released the final stable build for the Mi A2. According to XDA Developers, one user of the Mi A2 in Poland got the update and posted screenshots of the same, confirming that this is a global stable update.
The Android 9 Pie update for the Mi A2 is a 1GB download and brings with it new features including FM Radio functionality, adaptive battery and brightness. There is also support for Pie-specific features such as recommended apps and actions based on context. Since the Mi A2 Lite is an Android One smartphone, you get all the enhancements possible from Google including Digital Wellbeing, Google Lens integration and other system-level improvements.
The update is not just limited to Android Pie but it also brings the security patch for the month of November. After the update, all Mi A2 users will see their smartphones being updated to November 5, 2018 security level. It is, however, not clear whether the update is being pushed out to all markets at this moment.

To recall, Xiaomi did not release the Mi A2 Lite in India and hence the update has not much significance in our market. However, the update means that more devices are getting the taste of newest version of Android. The Xiaomi Mi A2 is the only other device from company to have received Pie update while the Poco F1 is still on the beta stage for the latest version of Android.
