Expanding its mobile portfolio in India even further, Honor launched the mid-range Honor 8X last month. While that’s definitely good, what’s even better is that the Huawei sub-brand hasn’t forgotten the smartphone’s predecessor – Honor 7X – yet.
According to AndroidSoul, some Honor 7X units in China are now receiving security fix for the month of December 2018. Bearing version number 8.0.0.360, the update, according to Huawei, comes with the latest security patches from Google, and helps improve system security.
Like all OTA updates, this one is also being rolled out in a phased manner, so it may take a while for all Honor 7X units across the world to get the update. In case you have the Honor 7X, you can manually check for the update under the ‘System Update’ option of the smartphone’s settings menu.
Launched late last year, Huawei’s Honor 7X is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. The mid-ranger has a 5.93-inch FullHD+ display with a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels, and a pixel density of around 407ppi. Even though the smartphone runs Android Nougat (with EMUI overlay) out-of-the-box, an update to Android Oreo is available.

For imaging, the Honor 7X has a dual-lens camera system at the back, made up of a 16-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel sensor. There’s also an 8-megapixel front-facing lens for selfies and video calls. The smartphone has all regular connectivity options, as well as a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Backing up the whole package is a 3,340mAh battery, but there’s no fast-charging support.
