Honor 8X is one of the popular budget smartphones in the market today, and it competes with Xiaomi’s latest Redmi Note 6 Pro, and Realme 2 among others. The device was launched back on September 5 this year in China, and made it to India on October 16.
Honor claims to have so far sold over 6 million devices globally, and is now planning to update the Honor 8X to the latest OS – Android 9 Pie. The company has already revealed that the Honor 8X Android 9.0 Pie beta will be released in China next week, while EMUI will be updated to version 9.0. The update for the Honor 8X global versions is expected to be available in December.
EMUI 9 focuses on speed and simplicity, and will also bring a number of improvements related to performance, bug fixes, and visual changes too. The company also mentioned that it will bring Google’s Digital Wellbeing feature, faster gaming, and a more streamlined UI. When later launched in India, the software would boast some India-specific features and localized capabilities which will include enhanced language support (up to 28 languages), a better-designed local calendar, and most importantly, deeper integration of Paytm with the UI overlay.
