Tencent Games and PUBG Mobile have announced a new esports event dubbed the ‘PUBG Mobile Star Challenge’ that is set to take place in Dubai. The event is being held from November 29 to December 1, 2018 at the Festival Arena in Dubai. In order to participate, PUBG Mobile players must have over 1,000 fans or followers on any streaming or social media platforms.
In its rules page, PUBG Mobile notes that recommended platforms include YouTube Gaming, Twitch, Facebook Live, Smashcast TV, Mixer, Cube TV, and Nimo TV among others. The player with over 1,000 followers on streaming platform can add three team members, who do not have any fan requirement. The region levels of the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge has been underway for the past month, and Tencent Games has now invited the top-20 teams from Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Japan, Korea and China to participate in the Global Finals being held in Dubai.
On its website, PUBG Mobile notes that each team will participate in 15 matches after registration, and the top 10 matches will be included in the final result. The teams with fewer than 15 matches will receive results based on actual matches played. A match is only valid if it was played during the qualification round with four players on the squad.
PUBG Mobile is calling this Star Challenge as the first official eSports Festival for the mobile game. The total prize pool of the stands at $600,000 (around Rs 43,743,000), and the winning team at the Global Final, crowned as champion, will take home a grand prize of $200,000 (around Rs 14,581,000).

PUBG Mobile had recently confirmed that more than 15,000 teams had applied to be part of this challenge. However, only the top 20 teams from each region will progress to the next round in Dubai.
