Stan Lee is a name that most people who are familiar with comic books and the subsequent films based on them know about. Stan Lee was not just the godfather of the Marvel Comics universe but a pop culture icon in his own right. He created characters like Spider-Man, Hulk and the whole X-Men series which helped Marvel become a billion dollar company which is among the biggest companies in the world. Stan Lee’s representative, Dawn Miller, has confirmed that he died on Monday in Los Angeles at the age of 95.
Stanley Martin Lieber, who is popularly known as Stan Lee was born on December 22 in the year 1922 in New York City. Lee worked part time jobs to help support his family, when he heard about a job at Timely Comics. He began his career working there as an office assistant in the year 1939. Timely Comics would later come to be known as Marvel Comics.
“I must’ve been the only one who applied because I got the job, and I thought it would be a temporary job,” Lee said in an interview done in 2011. “I had never thought of writing comics.”
His characters created over a long career at Marvel comics earned him a top spot at the company and he enjoyed its patronage throughout his life. He has made appearances in almost all Marvel films that have been made post 2000, and he has become known for it. His loss has greatly affected many of the celebrities who have taken up the mantle of playing characters made by him. Many of them took to Twitter to express their condolences for the legend.
From Chris Evans who plays Captain America, to Samuel L. Jackson, Halle Berry, Ryan Reynolds, Zoe Saldana, Anthony Mackie who all play characters in the Marvel Comics. Even Zachary Levi who had previously played a part in Marvel Comic movies and is now playing Shazam for DC Comics spoke about him, along with scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
There will never be another Stan Lee. For decades he provided both young and old with adventure, escape, comfort, confidence, inspiration, strength, friendship and joy. He exuded love and kindness and will leave an indelible mark on so, so, so many lives. Excelsior!!

Born before Edwin Hubble discovered the expanding universe, he ultimately created an expanding universe of his own – one of scientifically literate superheroes such as Spider-Man , The Hulk, Iron Man, & Black Panther.
