Xiaomi has silently launched the 4GB RAM variant of Mi 8 Youth, also called as Mi 8 Lite in select markets. The smartphone joins the expanded Mi 8 portfolio of devices, which already includes the Mi 8 Pro and the Mi 8 Lite introduced way back in mid-September.
The Mi 8 Youth was initially available with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, and a 6GB RAM variant with option for either 64GB or 128GB internal storage. Now, the Chinese smartphone maker has added fourth storage variant in the form of 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. The smartphone has been launched in Xiaomi‘s home market of China and will be available starting November 16. The smartphone is expected to become available in more markets later this month.
Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth: Price and Variants
Xiaomi has priced the Mi 8 Youth at a starting price of RMB 1,399 for the base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The second variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at RMB 1,699 while the 128GB storage option will set you back by RMB 1,999. The new variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage could be priced at around RMB 1,799 but there is no official confirmation yet.
Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth: Specifications and Features
The Mi 8 Lite features a 6.26-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels, and it features a wide notch at the top. The addition of the notch leads to a taller display with 19:9 aspect ratio, and the smartphone is 7.5mm thick weighing 169 grams.
Under the hood, the Mi 8 Youth gets Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. In terms of camera setup, there are 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel image sensors at the back where the secondary sensor is used to capture depth of field. At the front, there is a 24-megapixel shooter with support for 1080p video recording.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth is a mid-range smartphone that features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and runs MIUI 9 based on Android Oreo. The dual-SIM smartphone supports connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G LTE. It is backed by a 3,350mAh battery and uses USB Type-C port for charging. The smartphone is available in twilight gold, dream blue and deep space grey colors and is the first device from the company to get gradient color option.
