Nokia 7.1 vs Xiaomi Mi A2 vs Moto One Power: Price, specifications, features compared

HMD Global recently launched the Nokia 7.1 in India for a price of Rs 19,999. The launch comes months after the company initially unveiled the device in the Chinese market. Taking a look at the device, it serves as the successor to the Nokia 6.1 Plus, but sports a number of improvements in comparison. As reported previously, the device is set to go on sale starting from December 7. Taking into account the pricing and the specifications of the device, the Nokia 7.1 directly competes with the likes of Honor Play, Xiaomi Mi A2, Moto One Power, and even the Xiaomi Poco F1.

We have already compared the device with Honor Play, and the Poco F1, however, we are back to pit the Nokia 7.1 against the Xiaomi Mi A2, and the Moto One Power. Let’s see how these three devices fare against each other.

Display

The screen and display is the first thing that a user is likely to notice about the device when they pick it up. It is also likely to be one of the primary reasons that may influence the user to select a smartphone. The Nokia 7.1 sports a 5.84-inch with FHD+ (1080×2280 pixels) resolution along with a 19:9 aspect ratio, Gorilla Glass 3, and HDR10 support. In comparison, the Xiaomi Mi A2 packs a 5.99-inch display with 1080×2160 pixels resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio.

Motorola One Power, on the other hand, comes with a 6.2-inch display with FHD+ (1080×2246 pixels) resolution with 18.7:9 aspect ratio. On paper, Nokia 7.1 packs a higher PPI because of smaller screen size making the screen higher in quality than others in the competition.

Specs

Basic specifications are the second-most important thing that smartphone buyers are concerned with including the SoC, RAM, and storage of the device. The Nokia 7.1 comes with Snapdragon 636 along with Adreno 509, with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

Xiaomi Mi A2 takes a lead here as it packs Snapdragon 660 along with Adreno 512 with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. On the other hand, the Motorola One Power comes with Snapdragon 636 with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

All the three devices are part of the Android One program this means that all of them launched with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with Android 9 Pie-based updates currently rolling out in various markets.

Camera

HMD Global has added a dual camera sensor on the back of the device this time with a 12-megapixel primary camera sensor along with f/1.8 aperture, and a 5-megapixel secondary camera sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Xiaomi opted for a 12-megapixel sensor with f/1.8 on the primary camera and 20-megapixel camera sensor with a f/1.8 aperture on the secondary module.

Motorola opted for a dual camera setup with 16-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 and a 5-megapixel camera sensor with f/2.2 on the secondary sensor. Nokia 7.1 sports Zeiss optics along with a dual-LED flash while both other phones here sport regular camera lenses with dual LED flash modules.

Front camera wise, the Nokia 7.1 comes with an 8-megapixel camera, the Mi A2 comes with a 20-megapixel camera sensor and the One Power comes with a 12-megapixel camera sensor. On paper, the Mi A2 manages to pack as many pixels as possible.

Price and Availability

All the three devices are currently available for purchase in the market. The Nokia 7.1 is selling at Rs 19,999 with wider offline availability. Xiaomi Mi A2 is available on Amazon India and Mi.com along with Mi Home stores starting from a price of Rs 15,999. Last but not least, the Motorola One Power is priced starting Rs 15,999. On paper, Xiaomi Mi A2 seems to be a better proposition with a better value for money in terms of the hardware of the device.
