Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is set to launch its flagship smartphone, the Oppo R17 Pro, in India today. The smartphone will be made official at an event in Mumbai, and the company has scheduled the event for later in the evening. With the R17 Pro, Oppo will join Huawei and Samsung to offer smartphones that feature triple camera setup on the back.
Oppo R17 Pro: Launch and Livestream
Oppo R17 Pro launch event is being hosted in Mumbai, and it is scheduled to start at 8:00PM IST. Ahead of the today’s launch, the Chinese smartphone maker has already made the device available for pre-order. The livestream for the launch event will be posted on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter and we already know what to expect from the smartphone.
Oppo R17 Pro was initially launched in China in August and was the design on which the OnePlus 6T was built. While we already know the specifications, MSP suggests the smartphone will be priced at Rs 44,990 in India. The smartphone will be exclusive to Amazon India, and is rumored to go on sale starting tomorrow.
Oppo R17 Pro: Specifications and Features
The R17 Pro from Oppo can be described as OnePlus 6T with a different chipset, triple rear camera setup and gradient finish on the back. It features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels, and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Snapdragon 710 SoC, which can be seen as a stepdown from Snapdragon 845 found inside the OnePlus 6T. It is being offered in only storage variant of 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
On the imaging front, there is a triple rear camera setup with main 12-megapixel sensor having smart aperture of f/1.5 and f/2.4 paired with OIS and dual-pixel autofocus. The secondary sensor is a 20-megapixel shooter with f/2.6 aperture that acts as telephoto camera. The third sensor is a time-of-flight camera used for making 3D images. At the front, there is a 25-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture and support for ultra wide-angle selfies.
It supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and sports an in-display fingerprint sensor as well. The smartphone runs ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, and is backed by a 3,700mAh battery. One of the cool aspects of Oppo R17 Pro is the support for fast 50W wired charging, which can charge the device to full in an hour. The device is expected to be available in emerald green and radiant mist colors.
